No hate, please. I know I have some friends who might read this post, and probably some strangers too, that will undoubtedly disapprove.  With all due respect, they are wrong. ;]

Harvest Moon

…is awesome.  I could probably just stop right there and call it a day.  I love this game.  I don’t really do anime, but Harvest Moon is addictive.  This is the OG of farmlife games…and they should have just stopped here. HM wins, hands down, Farmville can shove it.  I have gone hours playing, and not realized it.  Personally, I enjoy the DS format the most, old PS2 games were good, most of the Wii games I’ve tried were pretty boring.  How can you resist those cute little animal faces though?  As a gamer, I am not embarrassed, because I know the Harvest Moon series rocks and is adorable at the same time.

As a bonus, another fantastic Nintendo DS game, Little Red Riding Hood’s Zombie BBQ.  My sister found this game for my mom’s birthday a few years ago, not really knowing what to expect… I don’t know what can be more full of awesome than zombified fairy tale characters being blown to shit by a curvy “Little Red Riding Hood”. “Shotgun!…Okay..”, “Laser!..Okay..” I can give no further explanation.  Please, for the love of all things Zombie, try it.

Enjoy the rest of your week, everyone!

Wii Fit!

I love Wii Fit, because not only do you get to have a lot of fun exercising, your efforts are recorded and you can see everything you have done each day and feel a sense of accomplishment.  Feeling accomplished + doing healthy things, like working out = awesome. No lie.  I think everyone should try it, even if it means visiting with someone else and playing with their Wii– haha, yeah I know, that joke got really old really fast– but seriously, I am not going to make this post too much longer because as much as Nintendo rocks I don’t want to be their spokesperson, however, Wii Fit makes me feel happy and pretty and healthy…except when it yells at me for not logging in for a week! =P

Probably, considering how available technology is, most people have tried the Wii.  But if you haven’t done Wii Fit, it’s worth trying. “]

Well, after fasting since last night, and then having to wait until the technicians were back from lunch at the lab before they could take my blood (getting bloodwork done for all kinds of stuff my doctor is testing me for…woohoo), I figured that it would be a good idea to get some food and drink.  Anywho, on that note, I think something worth trying is definitely;

Tortilla Pizzas!

A fantastically quick and delicious snack only calling for three cheap ingredients, pizza sauce, or any type of tomato sauce, cheese, I used Italian blend, and soft taco shells/tortillas.  The best way to cook the mini pizzas is to take a pan with a lid, put it on the stove top on medium-low with the lid on, and let it heat up before you put the pizzas in.  Then replace the lid and let cook for about 2-3 minutes or until the shell is crispy and the cheese is melted.  And like I said, they are very tasty, and easy.  “]

Mine personally would’ve been even more enjoyable without Ludwig sitting at my feet panting and begging.  Oh well.  Enjoy! ;]

Chalkboard Paint

Chalkboard paint is a flat black paint, that can be used on just about any surface, that will dry to be a completely usable chalkboard.  I bought a can a while back and I am excited to finally be getting around to it.  I am making my own heart-shaped chalkboard in our bedroom so that I can write myself lots of lists and notes so I remember everything that I would otherwise forget… :)

So far this is just the first coat; it’s a little sloppy and I will need to do another one in several hours.  I am very excited, though. :)   I made a few “boo-boo”‘s on the wall, but I still have my paint from when I painted my walls originally, so that will be easily fixed.  After the last coat of paint I have to wait 24 hours before I can write on it, so that will stink (I am very impatient) but I think this is an awesome idea and it’s fun for anyone to have… and it’s worth trying at least once. (and I promise to confirm that when it’s all done!)

*Update:

Yes, chalkboards are indeed awesome. I ended up widening this one, and still use it often and love it. I also have an additional dry-erase board and bulletin board. I am a list junkie.

In honor of my first “Dream Diary” post, something worth trying at least once is,

Dream Journaling

Dreams are amazing.  I think they are taken for granted.  We can learn things from our dreams, we can experience wild things in our dreams, and dreaming even gives us something to talk about.  Writing down your dreams gives your brain a workout and makes it easier to remember your dreams in the future.  Also, it makes it a lot easier to Lucid Dream.  Or maybe just discover more about yourself.  Mostly, it’s fun to think about how freaking weird your dream was the night before when you are writing it down.  And I bet if you go back a year or few later and read it, it’s going to be a whole lot funnier and probably more interesting.

So go get yourself a free blog, or a pretty journal from Borders, and when you dream, write it down.

For anyone who doesn’t often remember the dreams that they have, I recommend starting out your journal by writing your hopes and dreams.  Those make a pretty good “dream journal” too.

Painting

I don’t care who you are, how old you are, what you do for a living, whether you feel like a creative person or not.  The beauty of most types of art, is that anyone can be an artist.  Certainly, some people will have more natural talent than others, but everyone can act, everyone can paint, draw, take pictures, dare I say it, everyone can dance.

Get your hands dirty, or your paintbrush, sponge, artistic-utensil, get paint everywhere.  (Especially on the canvas) and let your creativity flow.  Whether you feel like an artist or not, you can immerse yourself in a new outlet and feel good about it.  Personally, I feel like art can be a form of worship.  I also think it can solve inner struggles and be a beautiful way of expression, and this goes especially for painting.

P.S. I am going to guess that most of you have tried painting “at least once”, I’m asking you to give it one more chance here and now ;)

PEACE TEA

Quite honestly, it’s my favorite tea in a can.  Call me crazy if you want but I like it as much as Arizona.  Best flavors: Lemon or especially Razzleberry.  Price: .99 cents always.  Seriously, this stuff is delicious and totally worth trying.  Plus, I always like helping out the little guy.

I am totally on a Razzleberry binge right now, I’m hooked.

Kayaking!

Much better than canoeing

I think it’s safe to say that kayaks are my favorite type of boat.  Unless of course we are including Pirate Ships in that category, and so far I still can’t afford one of those.

My favorite type of kayaking is on calm water, with great scenery and a waterproof(ish) camera.  It’s always simultaneously fun and relaxing.  Whether you go with a big group or just one or two other people (obviously anyone will advise you go with at least one other person for safety) you are sure to enjoy yourselves.  We always pack a lunch and pick a destination to stop and eat, most places you go you can find a nice chunk of land big enough for such an event.  I own my own kayak, and my family owns a few as well, so we are always set to go.  However, there are always shops that will rent kayaks out to you, as well as safety gear, especially in areas with generous amounts of water.  Or, if you’re in the area, you can always hit me up and I’ll see about making the trip with you. ;]

Getting a Tattoo

My first tattoo

I think sitting by the pool writing a blog update from my dsi might be both very nerdy and dedicated.

Now, “getting a tattoo” okay, I’m sure I’ve got some of you cringing here… It really isn’t as bad as it sounds. “) And I’m not saying you should just run out and get one for no reason, but the beauty of tattoos is that they can hold monumental meaning and be unique to the ones receiving them.

{My tattoo means a lot to me, love, Christ’s love, new life and forgiveness as well as overcoming less than flattering struggles for me. The placement represents overcoming hurting myself and my depression no matter how bad it gets.}

Therefore, if you really know for sure you want one, I think it’s an amazing idea. You should have a good concept drawn out especially for you and either design it yourself or work with an artist to sketch out exactly what you want. Make sure the picture is clear and the artist is your best choice, and he uses the most up to date guidelines for cleaning his equipment. And really, enjoy the experience. It isn’t too painful but I recommend having a close friend come with you and holding your hand.

And, okay, for those of you a little too afraid of needles, or that aren’t ready to mark themselves with something that will last forever, go get yourself a henna, or even one of those stick on with a washcloth ones…they are fun, and I definitely think any kind of tattoo is worth trying at least once. Enjoy the rest of your Thursday, everyone!

Temporary?

Things Worth Trying (At Least Once) #1

So, I’m trying out some new ideas for the blog. One of which is something that may or may not continue every Thursday. “Things Worth Trying…At Least Once”. Today’s, or tonight’s rather, is Pandora radio. If you haven’t used it I’m sure you have heard of it. Give it a try. It’s worth it, more than once. Go on and create a station, you can just start out with one artist or song you like and go from there. Radio stations that play music you like all the time? Worth it.
