Chalkboard Paint

Chalkboard paint is a flat black paint, that can be used on just about any surface, that will dry to be a completely usable chalkboard.  I bought a can a while back and I am excited to finally be getting around to it.  I am making my own heart-shaped chalkboard in our bedroom so that I can write myself lots of lists and notes so I remember everything that I would otherwise forget… :)

So far this is just the first coat; it’s a little sloppy and I will need to do another one in several hours.  I am very excited, though. :)   I made a few “boo-boo”‘s on the wall, but I still have my paint from when I painted my walls originally, so that will be easily fixed.  After the last coat of paint I have to wait 24 hours before I can write on it, so that will stink (I am very impatient) but I think this is an awesome idea and it’s fun for anyone to have… and it’s worth trying at least once. (and I promise to confirm that when it’s all done!)

*Update:

Yes, chalkboards are indeed awesome. I ended up widening this one, and still use it often and love it. I also have an additional dry-erase board and bulletin board. I am a list junkie.

Painting

I don’t care who you are, how old you are, what you do for a living, whether you feel like a creative person or not.  The beauty of most types of art, is that anyone can be an artist.  Certainly, some people will have more natural talent than others, but everyone can act, everyone can paint, draw, take pictures, dare I say it, everyone can dance.

Get your hands dirty, or your paintbrush, sponge, artistic-utensil, get paint everywhere.  (Especially on the canvas) and let your creativity flow.  Whether you feel like an artist or not, you can immerse yourself in a new outlet and feel good about it.  Personally, I feel like art can be a form of worship.  I also think it can solve inner struggles and be a beautiful way of expression, and this goes especially for painting.

P.S. I am going to guess that most of you have tried painting “at least once”, I’m asking you to give it one more chance here and now ;)
