Things that make me feel pretty #3
Simple Pleasure #8
Simple Pleasure #7
Building Sandcastles
Because sometimes, the water is damn cold and sitting on the beach in the sun is more fun. And who doesn’t enjoy building sandcastles? And enjoying each others’ company (especially when you’re with some of the young kids in your life who aren’t going to sit with you and be kids and build sandcastles forever…soaking up some of their youth is always a good thing).
I find it’s great to make the best of any trip to the beach, so I recommend doing every fun thing that you can while you are there. As I have said a hundred times before, doing the simple things that keep us young and hopeful and happy, they really are worth it.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone! I hope you are all slowing down and finding simple happiness-es everywhere. <3

Simple Pleasure #6
Climbing Trees
It seems like most of the best simple pleasures are the simple childhood experiences that we’ve had. So maybe nostalgia is a simple pleasure? Simply put, I think we all want to feel like little kids again. All that pure energy and innocence? I will take it any day. Well, some days it’s nice to be a grown up, but they are few and far.
I think tree climbing gives you a unique high that you can’t match anywhere else. The fear and adrenaline, plus the proud feeling you got as a child when you made it up to the top… sitting on the highest branch you could reach, and drinking it all in; it is pure beauty. I am all for doing these amazingly simple pleasures, the ones that make you realize how beautiful life is, how beautiful youth is, and how you can still feel young no matter what age you are.
Everyone, please have an amazing weekend. Special thanks to my beautiful Goddaughter, my favorite little model. She keeps us young.

Things Worth Trying At Least Once #5
Painting
I don’t care who you are, how old you are, what you do for a living, whether you feel like a creative person or not. The beauty of most types of art, is that anyone can be an artist. Certainly, some people will have more natural talent than others, but everyone can act, everyone can paint, draw, take pictures, dare I say it, everyone can dance.
Get your hands dirty, or your paintbrush, sponge, artistic-utensil, get paint everywhere. (Especially on the canvas) and let your creativity flow. Whether you feel like an artist or not, you can immerse yourself in a new outlet and feel good about it. Personally, I feel like art can be a form of worship. I also think it can solve inner struggles and be a beautiful way of expression, and this goes especially for painting.
P.S. I am going to guess that most of you have tried painting “at least once”, I’m asking you to give it one more chance here and now

Simple Pleasure #1
My new “every Saturday” post, as an initiative to blog, is going to be Simple Pleasures. I think breathing in life’s simplest of pleasures as often as possible is very important. So, if you sense a trend a week or two from today, well garsh you figured me out.
Simple Pleasure number one:
Swinging
No, not the kind of swinging your parents or grandparents used to do at those crazy key-swapping parties… The throwback to your childhood, wind in your hair, on top of the world glee you can find on that giant swing set at the park. This has got to be one of the most freeing experiences ever. When you have the time–and really, you should make the time–please go find your nearest park with a playground, and indulge. I promise that for at least a brief moment you can feel weightless and carefree.
